"Competition is by far my favorite part of Baja. That’s where the magic happens. In the first semester you get to design, the second semester you get to build, but it’s not until you get to competition that you see your concept come to life."
– Kyle Bertram, Drivetrain Subteam Member
"It’s a really great learning experience but it’s also just a lot of fun to see a car driving around in the mud. You get to see cars flip over and have things break and it’s like, Why did it break? Why did certain designs work better than other ones?"

"I remember my freshman year, I was sitting on the back of a Penske truck with a senior with an acetylene torch and we were just heating this piece of metal while other people around us were working, too. It was an insane experience. There’s just so much going on and so great to see everyone working on the car and getting it to a point where you can just drive and all hands are on deck.”
– Steven Meyer, Design Lead
The team competes in the intercollegiate Baja SAE design series facing 100 student teams from across the country. This rugged competition gives students a chance to test their off road vehicle in the harshest of conditions.
